A Grassroots Effort to End forced Annexation Abuse in North Carolina

"We lay it down as a fundamental, that laws, to be just,
must give a reciprocation of right; that, without this, they are mere arbitrary rules of conduct, founded in force, and not in conscience."

November 26, 2003 - The Town of Cary held its first of two informational meetings for residents of the neighborhoods to be annexed by Cary on March 11, 2004.

Approximately 180 residents of the Dutchman Downs and other areas attended the meeting in the Cary Town Hall to voice their opposition to this plan. Ricky Barker, Cary's Associate Director of Planning, explained the annexation process (click here for the Microsoft PowerPoint presentation shown to attendees) and answered most - but not all - questions raised by attendees together with Marla Dorrel, the only Cary council member in attendance.

Below is local media coverage on the event.
